Andy May returns to the Walnut Valley Festival this year for his 28th consecutive year. Andy is an energetic and heartwarming musical storyteller who has mesmerized audiences with his pickin’ skills, voice, and songs throughout his 50-plus-year career. Andy’s songs are filled with tales of life, love, and some mishaps - all sprinkled with his trademark good humor. His most recent CD, “Room for Roots,” has had great reception from radio, critics, and fans alike. At this year’s festival, Andy will play you some songs from "Room for Roots," debut some brand-new songs, and revisit "Stan," "Blackberry Jam," and some of his other Winfield fan favorites. Pull up your chair or a blanket - or just stand there - and take in one of his shows at "Picker's Paradise." Appearing with Andy again this year is bassist Jeremy Shearer.
Andy also brings his critically acclaimed Acoustic Kids Showcases back to the festival. (Winfield alumni include Sara Watkins, Chris Thile, and Sean Watkins of Nickel Creek.) As always, this year's crop of young musicians will amaze you with their developing talents and infectious enthusiasm. And, for the second year, we'll present the Acoustic Kids Ambassadors, a fast-paced, 30-minute set featuring some of the most advanced young pickers from the showcases. Check your schedule and catch a set. You'll see why we say, "The music's in good hands." TM
