John McCutcheon has emerged as one of the most respected and beloved folksingers of his time. As an instrumentalist, he is a master of a dozen instruments, most notably the hammer dulcimer. His songwriting has been hailed by critics and singers around the globe. His 35 recordings have garnered every imaginable honor, including seven GRAMMY nominations.

To perform live, like he’s been doing at the Festival every year since 1983, is when John feels most at home. It brings his music into the lives and hearts of one of the broadest audiences any folk musician has ever enjoyed. People of every generation and background seem to feel at home when John takes the stage with what critics describe as “little feats of magic.”

His long-awaited, all-Woody Guthrie album, This Land: Woody Guthrie’s America, released in 2011, was hailed as one of the most comprehensive and stunning tributes to this American icon.
