The deadline has passed for turning in requests for to be issued a credit voucher to cover electric and camping costs related to the flooding of the campgrounds during the 2016 Walnut Valley Festival.

Decision Reached Regarding Festival Electric / Camping Credit Vouchers

After discussion with all organizations involved, it has been decided that campers who were forced to move from the Winfield Fairgrounds to alternate campground locations prior to the start of the 2016 Walnut Valley Festival may submit requests for a voucher to receive 2017 festival credit for extra expenses incurred as a result of this inconvenience. The request for vouchers will be considered on an individual basis, using information received and Walnut Valley records.

The latest on Camping / Electric Options

September 30, 2016 The Walnut Valley Association and the City of Winfield are continuing to pursue options for campers from the previous Walnut Valley Festival that were forced to relocate from the Winfield Fairgrounds just prior to the start of this year’s festival. A meeting to have been this week with the City of Winfield had to be rescheduled due to a conflict and is expected to take place next week. Please watch the official Walnut Valley Website and the Walnut Valley Facebook site for information when it becomes available. We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding.

Thank You from Bob & Walnut Valley Association

I read in the paper that we were on track to have one of the wettest Septembers on record. The wettest September was 2008. No surprise there. Our workers still remember that year. Both years, 2008 and 2016, we were ahead of schedule in the set-up of the Festival. And both years, we had to tear everything down, move it off grounds, and set it up again when the water receded from the fairgrounds. A double set-up and teardown within the space of a week. Was it double the pleasure, double the fun? No, but our workers are dedicated to the Festival and they got it done.
