Big Blind Bluesy

Pat Donahue
Blue Sky

Acoustic Guitar, December 1995

Although the title and the cover photo of Donohue in dark glasses indicate a tongue-in-cheek attitude, there is nothing funny about the simply brilliant country blues picking on this release. Donohue pays tribute to some of the greats with solo guitar arrangements and performances that are consistently exciting. He sings on the record as well, and very credibly. The songs range from Blind Willie McTell’s "Statesboro Blues" to Robert Johnson’s classic "Kind Hearted Woman." The blues should always feel this good.
