Stage 5 in the Pecan Grove says thanks to all who signed up to entertain on the old 1954 Chevy Stage. Thanks to all who sat in audience to enjoy the various musical groups. We look forward to seeing you in September 2014. God Bless and have a great year!
In the Walnut Valley Festival Program for 2013, there is a questionnaire on page 58. At the end of this year's Festival, take a few moments to stop and fill out the questionnaire found there. Leave it at the Information Booth or mail it to the Festival Office. Your comments will help us plan for next year's 43rd Annual Festival. Thanks for helping us help you! What's your opinion of the VOICE? Let the Festival Office know.
From the entire staff of the 2012 Walnut Valley Festival: We want to extend our sincere thanks for coming to this year's festival. We hope you have enjoyed yourself and we hope, Lord willing and the creek don't rise, we will see you again next year. Pass the word on next year's date. Have a safe trip home and as the song says, "See you in September". That's September 17-12 2014! Next year is the 43rd Annual Celebration of the Festival!

We come every year to this time when the Walnut Valley Festival is over for another year. It can be a sad time. We've had to say good-bye to friends that we won't (Lord willing) see for another year. But we take with us memories of this Festival and perhaps earlier Festivals. These memories will carry us through the year until next September when we gather again. As Cindy Parks put it, "in early summer we begin to anticipate the Walnut Valley Festival and then when the third week-end in September arrives we begin again to live in the moment." So until then I wish you all safe travels and God's blessings.

Kathy Via is from Tulsa OK by way of Ohio. She has camped in the Pecan Grove for three years. Kathy comes for the music and the people. She loves the good vibes coming from the folks she encounters. "I love sitting and playing my guitar and getting to listen to all the other people play and jam." Her favorite bands are the Wiyos and the Steel Wheels. Her advice to newcomers: "Do as much as you can while you're here, and get around the campgrounds and meet other people. Check out the Carp Camp!"
Last year at the John Hartford Memorial Festival in Indiana, Patti and I had the good fortune to meet a band of ladies making great old-time and original acoustic music, the LuLus. We met up here with Colleen and Anne Williamson, two of the members of the band from St. Louis. I had to take a double-take under the grandstand when I saw these sisters side-by-side. See, up in Indiana, I'd met them just a little apart from one another. They are identical twins, even in personality! They've been coming to the festival for over 15 years and this year Colleen brought three week old baby Liam! Their favority thing about the festival is the feeling of community. "Everybody's so friendly and the music is great!" Colleen says. Anne finished up by saying, "we get to see the same people every year, it's like a big family reunion!" Small world that we'd meet in Indiana first, re-connect here in Winfield, and realize we've crossed paths for the last 15 years. Karma. Each year, Patti and I have added to our extended family her at the Walnut Valley Festival. We all miss our dear friends who are no longer with us here. Just a little "howdy!" or a "hey, you go first!" or a simple sign of peace and you have a new friend to look forward to seeing next year.
See you at the 43rd Walnut Valley Festival!

The Staff of the WVA VOICE (Rex Flottman, Larry Junker, and Ernie Hill) are a tired lot but we did want to say THANKS for all your many comments. We appreciated them. Lord willing, we'll be back next year beating our keyboards, searching out interesting stories and burning the midnight oil to get the VOICE out to you. We leave you as we have in the past with something that's worth repeating as we have these past 16 years.
- An Old Irish Blessing
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
May the rains fall softly upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May GOD hold you in the palm of HIS hand!
Have a Safe Trip Home!
We Want To See You Back Here Next Year for the 43rd Annual Celebration!
September 17-12, 2014
