2016 - A well-known name to this contest, Jason Shaw of Lincoln, NE took 2nd place in this contest. He has entered this contest every year since 1990. He placed first in 1993, 2004, 2010, third in 2003 and now second in 2016. In addition to the guitar Jason also plays the fiddle, mandolin and the drums. Jason and his brother, John, are musicians and home theater store owners. Jason plays in a band called the Sandy Creek Bluegrass Band and has a CD entitled “Flatpicker’s Reel.” Running, music, movies and reading are things he likes to do when not playing his instruments. Jason takes back to NE the 2nd Place Trophy and a Martin D-222 100th Anniversary Limited Guitar with Custom Inlay by C.F. Martin and Company of Nazareth, PA.
2015 - The second place winner is no stranger to Winfield or the contests. Jason Shaw of Lincoln, NE is a musician and a Home Theater Store owner. This is his 25th year to attend the WVF. Jason has also competed in the mandolin and flat pick guitar contests. Over the years Jason has done quite well for himself with this being his twelfth contest place between both fiddle and flatpicking. Quite a resume! Jason also has some CDs out, one entitled “Jason Shaw – Flatpicker’s Reel” and also some with his brother John and the band they play in “Sandy Creek Bluegrass”. Music and Movies are his two favorite hobbies.
For his efforts Jason won the 2nd Place Trophy and the Heinrich Gill “Monza” Fiddle represented by the Beautiful Music Violin Shop of Lawrence, KS.
