August 15th anyone wishing to line up for the Walnut Valley Festival may do so

The City of Winfield and K&O Steam and Gas Engine organization have agreed to permit attendees of the Walnut Valley Festival to begin forming early lines for camping beginning today, August 15th. The line-up is under the supervision of the Walnut Valley Association but any fees due will be payable to the organization that has control of the Winfield Fairgrounds depending on the date you are joining the line-up. The early line-up will be located in the area northeast of the horse barn area again this year.

2016 Wyoming State Guitar Champions Announced

Nick Johnson, Pleasant Grove, Utah took top honors at the Wyoming State Finger Style Guitar Championship while Daniel Richard, Fort Towson, Oklahoma won the Wyoming State Flat Pick Guitar Championship. Both competitions are sponsored by the Oyster Ridge Music Festival held in Kemmerer, Wyoming held July 22nd through 24th.

Guy Benson, from Salt Lake City, Utah won second place in the Wyoming State Finger Style Guitar Championship, while Brad Tew, Springville, Utah won third place.

2016 Mid-East Regional Dulcimer Champions Announced

Coshocton Dulcimer Days Festival celebrated three days of workshops, concerts and competitions June 17th -- 19th at Roscoe Village in Coshocton, Ohio.

The Mid-East Regional Dulcimer Championships were featured during the Sunday concert.

Winners of the 2016 Mid-East Regional Mountain Dulcimer Championship are: 1st Place: Christine Shoemaker, Clawson, MI 2nd Place: Tish Westman, Beckley, WV 3rd Place: J.D. LaBash, Austintown, OH

2016 Texas State Dulcimer Champions Announced

The Lone Star State Dulcimer Society hosted the LSSDS Dulcimer Festival at Glen Rose Park in Glen Rose, Texas on Mother’s Day Weekend. The weekend included workshops for both mountain and hammer dulcimers, led by nationally known instructors, and was highlighted by the Texas State Dulcimer Championships.

Cassandra Damper from Houston, Texas won First Place in the Texas State Mountain Dulcimer Championship. Matthew Hathaway from Fort Worth, Texas won Second Place and Hope Arendse from Cleburne, Texas won Third Place.

2016 West Virginia State Flat Pick Guitar Champion Announced

The 6th Annual Robin Kessinger Festival June 3-4, 2016 partnered with Heritage Farms to produce the Way Back Weekend and Robin Kessinger Festival. The Festival hosted instructional workshops for flat pick guitar, mandolin and fiddle, and concerts the Bing Brothers Band featuring Jake Krack, Robin Kessinger, Wayne Henderson, Robert Shafer, Dan Kessinger, Roger Rabalais, Jodi & Tim Harbink, Karl Hepler, Jesse Smith, Allen Shadd, and the 2014 West Virginia State Flat Pick Guitar Championship.

2017 Arkansas State Finger Style Guitar Champion Announced

posted Thu., Jun 8th, 2017 Thumb Picking workshops, a Traditional Thumb Picking Guitar Contest and the 3rd Annual Arkansas State Finger Style Guitar Championship filled the Ozark Folk Center in Mountain View, Arkansas with guitar players of all talent levels May 19th and 20th, 2017.

Ozark Folk Center Announces 2016 Southern Regional Dulcimer Champions

The Ozark Folk Center hosted the 39th Annual Dulcimer Jamboree in Mountain View, Arkansas. The Dulcimer Jamboree provided workshops in both mountain and hammer dulcimers at all levels of playing skills. Evening concerts featured workshop instructors along with their regular cast of local and regional bands. The Saturday evening concert featured the contestants of the Southern Regional Mountain Dulcimer Championship and the Southern Regional Mountain Dulcimer Championship.

2015 Walnut Valley Festival Instrument Championship Winners

Winfield, Kansas… The 2015 edition of the Walnut Valley Festival wrapped up Sunday evening, after a great festival filled with lots of music, food, arts and craft and numerous hours of national and International acoustic instrument championship competitions. The various championship contests annually bring musicians to the small south central Kansas community from around the world to test their skills against other players who also rank among the top percentage in the world of pickers with their particular acoustic stringed instrument.

2015 National Bluegrass Banjo Champions Named

44th Annual Walnut Valley Festival – Winfield, Kansas

Held annually each year on the 3rd weekend in September, the Walnut Valley Festival is the home of the International Autoharp Championship, the International Fingerstyle Guitar, the National Mountain Dulcimer, the National Flat Pick Guitar Championship, the National Hammered Dulcimer Championship and the National Bluegrass Banjo Championship. Other contests held at the Walnut Valley Festival are the National Mandolin Championship and the Walnut Valley Old Time Fiddle.
